Give an Old Hutch a New Look
A sweet friend gifted me this gorgeous hutch. I think it was 1 part she didn’t know where to move it into her new home, and 2 parts her husband didn’t want to keep moving it. It is a BEAST! And I love it! But what I didn’t love was the yellowish shade of wood it was. So I knew something had to be done about that.
A Slow Flip Home Tour
A few years ago, I had the privilege of touring the most recent home redesigned by Jean Stoffer. If you’re not familiar with Jean and you’re a fan of home design, you are missing out. She has a show on the Magnolia Network titled The Established Home, where she takes you along on her different home design projects. Jean has an eye for classic design and functionality with a specialty in kitchen and bath renovations. The particular home I toured was a full remodel project that she took on and incorporated her whole family.
Quick Fix- A Narrow Bathroom
Do you have a room that’s feeling outdated, or maybe functionally it’s not working well for your family? It may need a full renovation. But sometimes it just needs a few simple tweaks, and it will feel like a whole new space. Looking updated and flowing better. I fondly refer to this as a Quick Fix.3 Small changes that make a big impact. Let’s go!
Best Accent Colors for Brick Homes
I’ve been asked repeatedly for suggestions for trim and door color options for red brick houses. Choosing paint color to go with red brick can be challenging, and I get it! Our previous home was a red brick ranch, and I was consistently searching for inspiration for the perfect accent color. So here is a round-up of my favorite inspiration photos. And at the end of this post, I even share specific paint colors so you can choose the best option for your home.
Our Kitchen – Inspiration and Where We are Now Pt. 1
Our kitchen was quite a sight to see when we first moved in. There was actually nothing wrong with it; it just wasn’t our style. Which, for me, meant it was a blank slate to do what I wanted with. The general footprint works perfectly; it just needs some cosmetic modifications.
Dried Holiday Garland
A few years back I created this dried holiday garland and I’m excited to say that it’s still going strong looking great and spelling delicious. Dried garland is a timeless tradition that is really popular right now and isn’t a fad that will be going anywhere anytime soon.
My Favorite Christmas Tree
Each year, the day after Thanksgiving, our family bundles up, loads up a saw, and sets out to find our family Christmas tree for the year. We have our favorite tree farm that we go to each year, which gives us what feels like a million and one choices, and there is WAY too much back and forth about which tree is the perfect one.
An Updated Front Door
My husband was able to get his hands on this Craftsman-style fiberglass front door for us. I was pretty geeked. This was just the update that the front of our house needed! It also opened the opposite way of our old door, which was perfect because the old one swung open into the room and was in the way when greeting visitors.
